Location of the campsite
Brittany and South Finistère between Quimper and Lorient, Concarneau and Pont-Aven…We welcome you to Saint Nicolas in Névez, in the village of Port-Manech, a seaside resort which was famous during the Belle Epoque and frequented by the likes of Michèle Morgan and Jean Gabin.
These landscapes and the light were a source of inspiration to many painters.
When Paul Gauguin was living in Pont-Aven, just 15 km away, he would come and paint beside the ocean and some of those paintings are now famous.
Visit South Finistère and Brittany from the campsite
Set between the sea and the river at the mouth of the Aven, one of those Breton rivers that moves to the rhythm of the tides, this is the ideal place for any water-based activity.
The beach at Port-Manec’h, with its painted cabins, is definitely one of the most typical of the area.
Port-Manec’h made its living from sardines for many years. Beautiful houses sit side by side with former fishermen’s cottages.
This little piece of paradise has kept its family feel, in the shade of its opulent villas nestling on the banks of the Aven.
Sheltered from the prevailing wind, you can take in the confluence of the Aven and the Belon or walk along the little path beside the fine sandy beach which leads to the port.
After the seawall, a little track leading to the GR34 allows visitors to explore the Port-Manec’h lighthouse, just a few metres away.
Here, the horizon stretches as far as the eye can see, from the Glénan Archipelago to the Ile de Groix, with amazing views.
